  • Can a defense lawyer stop his client from giving perjured testimony?

I have one class telling me that a defense lawyer must not allow his client or witnesses to give perjured testimony and another telling me that there is nothing he can do if he knows it is perjury because of the attorney-client privilege. Anyone care to elaborate? Thank you!
But to excuse himself from the case, doesn’t he have to give the court a reason? And in doing so, isn’t he violating the attorney-client privilege?
